7 Points to look out for in sales calls

That is... if you wanna close them and avoid being scammed

If you’re anything like me who balks away from talking to strangers…

This email is for you. Because at the end of the day, sales calls are you talking to strangers…

And unless you do it right, it might cost you a potential client.

So here are all the tips and tricks I learned from trial and error

(and advise from people)

7 Points to Look Out for in Sales Calls

1) Tone

When you started the call...

Did they casually start asking about your day and all that?

Or did they hop straight to business?

Depending on that, you either put on your causal friendly voice 🙋‍♀️

or that prim business one 👩‍💼

Why?

Because if they are the serious type, they probably won’t appreciate their time being wasted with small talk.

And if they are the casual type, they would probably want you to pass the vibe check.

2) Ask them to repeat

Didn't catch something?

Ask them to repeat.

Trust me, they don't mind one bit.

But they DO mind when you say

"Yeah, yeah I got it" 🤥

And mess up something crucial later 😶

So if you didn’t catch something…ask again.

3) Affirmations

Just like it's important for you to get what they say...

It's just as much important THEY get what you mean.

Frequently ask these questions:

  • Does that sound alright?

  • Did you catch that?

  • Is that OK?

You don’t want them to fall from the sky and be all surprised about some terms when you have already sealed the deal, do you?

4) Are they talking about money?

So far, I did not meet a single client who wouldn't pay me.

But I do know many MANY suffer from it.

Do this, do that, but when its time for pay...

Crickets 🏃‍♀️💨💨

One amazing way to sniff out these cheapskates are by noticing if they

"Actively talk about money"

And doesn't shy away when you bring it up.

So pay attention.

5) Your price

State it AFTER you're done discussing

  • their problems

  • possible solutions

  • how you're going to do it

It builds the rapport...

And convinces them that they want you.

And when you state it,

Do it clearly and pause.

Let them process and decide.

6) Don't bargain

If they agree to your price...AMAZING.

If they don't and wants something lower,

Either lower the scope of your offer.

Or politely refuse and end gracefully.

But don't go around bargaining

That makes you seem "needy"

And you do NOT want that.

Because that might cause them to take advantage of you.

We don’t do those here.

You want a healthy-client-work-relationship.

7) Commissions

Many clients offer commissions for new sales and clients for them.

And yes, it's separate from your service pay.

If they talk about it, great.

(Mine did)

If they don't, bring it up yourself.

Better clarify all these in the sales call then have to haggle later.

There! That’s it from my side. I am sure I might have missed some points (there is no one perfect way to do this)

You just have to practice in real life and find it out for yourselves.

But then…

How to you GET to the sales calls? How do you find those people and make them interested in your offer? How do you make them WANT to talk with you and ready to PAY you?

Those are some BIG questions… but the answer is quite simple actually.

Here, lemme walk you through the steps… your clients are waiting

That’s it for today!

See you again in another email.

Until then,

take care and drink lots of water
